It's the Night of the Snow Y'all!!
so yesterday it was a bit cold...ok freezing! before i left the house i grabbed my white puffy coat (which allie lovingly calls my circa 1980 coat) thinking i probably would not need it. well, as it turned out, i was doing fittings in a not so heated facility and didn't remove the thing all day. i was listening to the radio and reports kept coming in about white stuff falling from the sky on the north side of town (Tomball, The Woodlands, etc.) THEN someone called from SPRING with similar info. Could it be....SNOW? yes indeed it could... and it was.

I AM, INDEED, THANKFUL!
This Thanksgiving felt a bit like a whirlwind...work, emotion, and food overload. I barely had time to stop and think let alone think about what I was thankful for...shame on me!
I recently typed up this story, and it got me thinking about the good-ole-days when we couldn't get up to Glenns Ferry fast enough. Up at dawn working in the fields and playing in the sun all day. What I would give for just on of those carefree summers...so what I am thankful for this year MY MEMORIES!
"The Dump"by Cousin Macy
One hot summer day in Hammet, Idaho Aund Christine decided it was "cleaning day." This was a very good idea because there had been many children running around the house and it was a mess! The children cleaned and cleaned and cleaned until they were exhausted! In fact, they cleaned so much and there were so many bags of garbage a special trip to The Dump needed to be made. Cousin Justin was older and had his license so he was designated to be the driver. The truck was loaded up with bags of garbage and children (to help unload the garbage of course!) Some of the children included Mary, Wendy, Melinda and a number of other cousins. Unloading the garbage was a success as the bags were thrown out of the pickup and into the garbage piles. When the back of the truck was empty Justin hollered, "Everyone get in and hold on!" Melinda and Macy quickly jumped into the back of the truck but were not able to hold on before Justin hit the gas to go. Before she knew what was happening Macy was jolted backward and rolled right out of the back of the pickup! She had been dumped at the dump! As soon as Justin realized what had happened (from all the children yelling at him to stop) he screeched the breaks and jumped out to see if Macy was alright. She was o.k. except for a little bruising and being a bit shaken up from the fall. Justin felt sooooooo bad that he promised Macy a large Slush Puppie which she thoroughly enjoyed all the way home!
Idaho...how do I love thee...let me count the ways!

Trip to Portland
Cannon Beach the day after Aubry's surgery
Portland Zoo
Playing at cannon beach, notice Aubry walking on her toes because of her heels hurting. The day was overcast and windy but we still had fun and the sun even came out for a short time while we were there.

As you can see Anna is the dancer in our family! This is her favorite song from the piano and she made up the dance all on her own.

Family News From Star, Idaho
The Warner Family
The Warner children with Grandpa Roger and Grandma GG
We had a lovely Easter Sunday. We went to Sacrament Meeting at the Star 2nd Ward at 9:00 a.m. After it ended, Aaron left to go to the hospital in Boise to bring Michelle and baby Elizabeth home. The family attended the rest of the meetings and then went back home. Aaron, Michelle, and Elizabeth came home not too long thereafter. Gloria had prepared a delicious meal of roast turkey, mashed potatoes and brown gravy, broccoli, orange jellow in cottage cheese, home made dinner rolls, and a tossed green salad. It was a lot like Thanksgiving Day. In deed, it was a day of thanksgiving. Elizabeth is a beautiful baby and she has beautiful dark hair, just what Michelle wanted. Contratulations to the Warners!
Melanie, you're next!
Love, Roger and Gloria

Chocolate is fine but there has to be nuts, too.
Chocolate chip cookies are really good. But, chopped walnuts or pecans added make them super good. Gloria has made two batches of chocolate chippers lately. However, to meet everyone's taste, she included nuts in only half of them. That way, she is "bipartisan."

Things Are Back to Normal -- Sorta
Well, I'm settled down a little today. I don't know what got into me when I commented on Mel's first post. Something just came over me and I went a little bit overboard. Sorry. Anyway, I'm glad to hear from my little Polish gal.
We changed from Dish Network to DirecTv yesterday. They had a special promotion going on so I decided the change over. We'll save about $10 a month for the first year. Then we'll have one more year at regular price. We upgraded to a DVR receiver so now we can record programs that we want to save. Plus, we will now be able to pick up the MTN channel that broadcasts sports for the Mountain West Conference, which includes BYU. For the last two years, Comcast was the only licensed provider. However, Comcast only covers the Wasatch Front area. The rest of the state had to rely only on CSTV or Versus who only showed BYU now and then. We'll have to wait until later this summer before programming on DirecTv actually starts, but they've promised to be up and going by September 1st. One unfortunate thing about the change is that we will no longer be able to pick up the Hallmark Movie Channel. We will get the regular Hallmark Channel, but not the movie channel. Boo, Hoo! We really enjoy that station. In addition, after three months we won't be able to pick up the Encore channels that show full-length, uninterrupted movies. If we want to keep them, we'll have to pay extra. Bummer! Oh well, we'll at least be able to continue getting Bill O'Reily and Shaun Hannity.
Did everyone get the announcement about the Taylor Reunion on July 12th? If not, let us know and we'll email you a copy. Gloria is getting excited about going to Idaho soon. If it didn't involve so much in actually getting there and then returning, I'd look forward to it with more enthusiasm myself. But I am looking forward to seeing the Warner Clan again also. It's been a looong, looong time.
Well, it's time to sign off so it's "Adios, muchachos!!" Love, We'ns

News From Price, Utah
It's a chilly Monday morning here in Castle Country. We get that moniker because of all the mesa land formation so prevalent in this area of the state. They look like castles protruding up from the ground.
We received a little more snow on Friday night, about two inches, and then just a skiff on Saturday night. This morning there is just a thin frosty ice covering the vehicles and other smooth objects. Gloria has left for work and I sit here at the computer catching up with some paper work and paying a few bills.
Yesterday morning we woke up and found, just as we were heading to church in the minivan, that we had a flat tire. We were able to hitch a ride with a neighbor to the church house and another ride back home with a couple we home teach after the block meetings. A couple of hours later, a fellow who lives two houses away from us came over with his portable hydraulic jack, lifted the car up with the jack, removed the flat tire, replaced it with our donut spare tire, and finally went home to get his portable air compressor so he could pump up the spare that was a little low in pressure. This was all taking place while we were visiting with our home teachers inside our home. We didn't even know he was doing it. When I reminded him it was Sunday, the day of rest, he said it looked at the situation as being our "ox in the mire" and he was there to help. He also comes early in the mornings following a snow storm to clear off our driveway and sidewalk with his four-wheel SUV and snow blade. We consider him our "Good Neighbor, Sam."
